Case management
A small company undertake surveillance cases for several clients who each demand
specific statistics reports to be submitted to them on a monthly basis.
Management of the statistics was becoming a
nightmare! |
Creating an Access database, with
user friendly input screens, and which is based on the structure
of a case and the action taken on the case means that each of
the different statistics requirements are now generated as Excel
spreadsheets at the press of a button.
Each set includes only the relevant cases over the relevant time
period.

Technical Documentation
A power station mechanical inspection and repair manual had become disjointed
after years of amendments and additions. The document was physically large
and proved difficult and time consuming to navigate.
|
The document was restructured by vtl in to 700 pages created with hyperlinks for
easier navigation, and updated to contain digital photos and complex sketches. |
|
Spreadsheet Data Management
The filtering within Excel did not meet the demands of these high-tech,
high-volume users.
The process they had to go through to get their results was time
consuming and frustrating. |
Using VBA programming within Excel, vtl automated this process with a
user-friendly form providing more extensive filtering than that availably via
the Excel menus. |

Cost Modelling
To aid in sourcing manufacture, a large organisation wanted to utilise the
wealth of knowledge within to create a suite of manufacturing cost models. |
Working closely with the knowledge experts, a series of complex cost models have
been developed in Excel, utilising current and historic data from the
organisation’s Oracle database.
Users need only input product specific information via a
straight-forward “front-endâ€ÂÂ, and
the complex calculations yield a full set of scenario reporting.

Resource Management
An stores section of an organisation hires out gear to contracts, both internal
and external.
As much of the gear is subject to test and inspection regimes it
is critical they can track the location of specific items as
well as needing to charge contracts accurately for the gear they
have used. |
To accommodate the volume of users, an application has been produced storing
data in a SQL Server database.
Data is accessed through a user-friendly menu driven system and incorporates all
the organisations complex rules about issuing gear.
A suite of audit reports detail items which are out of test and
recall notices are generated automatically. |
