Who is this course for?

This course has been developed to facilitate the rapid adoption of Microsoft Word's advanced features for experienced WP users. Some topics that were introduced during the introductory course also appear here, and are now covered in greater depth.

What do I need to know before attending?

Competence with basic Windows skills. Completion of the Microsoft Word Introductory course with subsequent experience of using Word. 

 

What will I expect to achieve at the end of the training?
At the end of this course
you will be able to:

  • Create and manage long documents using advanced features.
  • Automate work using simple standard forms, macros and other tools.
  • Insert and manage graphic objects and Equations.
  • Use the merge facility to create mail shots or labels.

Locating Documents using advanced search features.
Search by file location, by file contents, and by file date and time.
Track Changes and comments.

Fields
Inserting and updating document information and date fields.

Templates & Styles
Using standard templates, creating, editing and managing templates.
Creating user forms.
Introduction to Word styles, applying styles, modifying styles and creating your own styles and themes.

Macros
Recording and editing simple Word macros.
Assigning macros to the Quick Access Toolbar and keyboard shortcuts.

Graphics
Graphic objects.
Using the drawing tools.
Adding drawn objects to documents.
OLE & DDE - Understanding and using both Object Linking and Embedding and Dynamic Data Exchange.


Columns
Creating & working with multiple columns.

Long Document Features
Using features to assist in the control of long documents, such as inserting a Table of Contents, Indexes or Cross-references.

Creating forms
Inserting form fields.
Protecting forms.

Additional Topics
Other topics of interest will be covered when you are comfortable with the core elements of the course, where time allows.
